What is it that we use to measure the worth of a person’s life?
Do we measure it in the number of years that were spent in this world? We oh so want that number to reach a hundred- but really those years should be measured in the living that was done in their time here.
Do we measure by the amount of possessions that a person had? I truly hope not- unless those possessions were filled with memories and stories and told the tale of a life well lived.
Do we count the number of friends that a person had? No not the number of friends, but the value of those friendships be they 1 or 100.
Do we measure the number of lives touched during their time in this world? No we do not count the number. For each of us have a role to play in the fabric of reality that we weave. And we can only hope that those we touch, are made better for that encounter., even if that is but one life touched.
How do we measure the worth of the life of a person? When they are gone, we measure their worth in the emptiness in our soul, and pray we can live as well as they did and honour their memory.
