Back in December I was helping out at a silent auction for a fundraiser. One of the first things that I put out was a statue. The statue was of a beggar. As soon as I saw it, it called to me and I had to have it. I made sure I had the winning bid.
I brought it home and put it on CJ’s memorial shelf and forgot about it.
Last week I found a to do list that CJ had made for himself. It was so painful to read. Sad for all that was lost.
One thing that was on the list was “Saint Matthew Prayer”. For some reason CJ was searching for it.
A couple days ago I showed the statue to my niece. It was the first time that I had looked at it since I brought it home. Along with the statue was a card that explained the meaning of the statue. It was from the Bible - Matthew 25.
Somehow, I had been drawn to this statue with a prayer my son was looking for.
And you can’t see the face of the beggar, but when I look at it, I see CJ’s face. 🙏
